Prompt Formula

Six ingredients behind every reliable prompt — you rarely need all six, but naming more of them removes guesswork.

Subject

Name the exact subject and a defining detail — "a red ceramic mug", not just "a mug".

Composition

Describe framing and layout: close-up, centered, rule-of-thirds, negative space for text.

Lighting

Set the mood with light: soft key light, golden-hour rim light, bright even studio light.

Style

Name a visual style: studio photography, flat vector illustration, isometric 3D, anime-inspired.

Constraints

State what must stay fixed: "keep the logo unchanged", "no added text", "square crop only".

Format

Mention output framing if it matters — packshot, banner, portrait headshot, app icon.

In-Image Text Tips

Keep in-image text short — a word or a short phrase — and put it in quotes inside your prompt. Long sentences of in-image text are the most common source of garbled or misspelled output.

Common Failures and Fixes

  • Result ignores part of the prompt — the prompt is likely doing too much at once; split it into a shorter first pass, then a follow-up edit.
  • Style looks generic — name a specific style ("35mm film photography", "flat vector illustration") instead of a vague adjective like "nice" or "professional".
  • In-image text is garbled — shorten the quoted text and keep it to a single short phrase.
  • Composition is off — add an explicit framing instruction: centered, close-up, rule-of-thirds, negative space for text.
